frequently asked questions

What type of paint do you use?

All paints are professional, non-toxic and FDA compliant for use on the skin. Brands include Wolfe, Tag, FAB, Mehron and others. Glitters are a polyester cosmetic glitter that is made for skin, lips and eyelids and completely safe.

How do I remove it?

All face paint is easily removed with soap and water or a baby wipe. Occasionally some of the colors will leave a light stain which requires a second lathering scrub. Stubborn stains can be removed with baby oil.

How long does it take to paint one face?

This question depends on the complexity of the design. On average, I paint between 10-15 faces per hour. If I am doing very simple designs, I have painted up to 20 faces per hour. A full face design can take 8-10 minutes and simple designs take 2-3 minutes.

What designs do you offer?

I typically display a board with photos of all the designs I am offering and I change them up quite regularly. I always provide designs for boys, girls and adults. I can even customize designs to fit your theme if you request this prior to your event. I have done specialized design themes for events such as Holidays, Sporting Events, Pirate, Superhero, Rodeo, Princess, Garden and more.

How do I book you?

Contact me via email with event details. If I am available on that date, I will discuss the event and provide a quote. When you agree to hire me, I will email you a Contract/Invoice which needs to be filled out and returned to me within 7 days. Your event is booked when I receive that contract. It is wise to contact me well in advance so you can secure your date.

How do I pay you?

The full amount for service is due upon the artists arrival to your event. Cash or check is acceptable. Checks may be written out to PiKadilly Face Painting.

Do you carry insurance?

Yes. I carry Public Liability Insurance.

Can I sleep with face paint on?

Like any other cosmetic, it is not recommended to sleep with face paint on. I have had many children do this without an issue, however, if you want to play it safe...wash it off before bedtime.

Do I need to provide anything for you?

I come with everything I need: table, chair, paints, etc. The only things I request are:
•  Good lighting
•  Sturdy shelter on level ground if event is outdoors. A tent should have side panels to block wind. And it needs to be properly weighted down with at least 25 lb. weights on each corner. I have had many tents blow away because they were not secured properly. When a tent is provided, PiKadilly is not responsible for any damage that may occur to it. There is an additional charge if you prefer me to bring my own tent.
•  Location of my stand: It is important to keep in mind that a line forms in front of my booth.
Please position me in an area that a line would not block other booths or important areas.
•  It is nice to be allowed to park close to where I will be painting as I have much to carry.

How do you keep your supplies sanitized?

Facepaint is designed to be used by multiple people. It contains enough antibacterial ingredients to make it safe for this industry. I clean all my supplies after each event...paints are wiped down, brushes and sponges washed, etc. I also use "brush bath" with sanitizes my water at an event and a cosmetic sanitizing spray for paints and brushes.

Do you work for free or at a reduced rate for fundraisers?

I only do two "Special Projects” per year, which I pick. While I love to paint, I also have many bills to pay to keep my business going and profitable.

How far do you travel?

I like to stay within a 1-2 hour radius of Fargo and Wahpeton, ND. I will travel further is the event is larger with more hours of painting time.
